Coven Party 2k13

shirt by Wildfox (circa 2010)
skirt from American Apparel
cardigan from UO

So as you all (should) know, last night was the premiere of American Horror Story: Coven. It should be clear by now I have a true, undying love for this show and the fact that this season's theme is Coven has made the show even more important to me. I have been so fascinated by witches and witchcraft since I was young. I was a witch every year for Halloween and I was so sure that one day I could become a real witch. Update: it still hasn't happened...YET. So when one of my friends asked if I'd like to do something for premiere night, of course I said yes. I've had my themed outfit picked out for weeks and I decided to make 'coven cookies' with 'blood cocoa' (hot chocolate with red food coloring).

Wild for the Night

22. Best friends in a hotel suite. Bottomless mimosas. Candy bracelets and unicorn lollipops. A haze of neon and glitter. Harry Styles playing the role of Alien. Flashing strangers on the streets below. And we danced all night to the Best Song Ever.

Spring break, spring break, spring break forever.

c'mon I know you like little girls

I feel like my nymphet-ness has been on point this summer. Strawberry blonde, tan skin, the shortest shorts, and converse. This is the first Summer I'm actually proud to show off my body. So if I want to wear booty shorts in Disneyland then I'm gonna do it.

While I was in Newport I went to 'Brandy Melville' for the first time. It was an overwhelming experience to say the least. Basically it's one tiny store with hundreds of cute completely affordable clothing items. It has an American Apparel vibe only with Forever 21 prices. I think all the tops were under $25. The one I'm wearing in the photo above was only $12! It's my new favorite top. I bought it because it reminded me of something Buffy Summers would wear. If there's a store near you I definitely suggest you check it out! There's also an online store but it doesn't have nearly as much stuff as in store.

Willow Rosenberg

dress by Unif + crop top from American Apparel

I've been watching a lot of Buffy lately (and by a lot I mean the entire series twice) so it's pretty obvious that Willow Rosenberg would become my style icon at some point. I originally bought this dress only because it reminded me of the dress Willow wore in the pilot episode. Clearly I've modified that outfit to make it more Ashlee but I feel like I achieved a 90's vibe. Now if I could only achieve Alyson Hannigan's level of cuteness...

Valentinspo

beanie by Dimepice, pullover by Boy London, shoes by Unif

Sometimes you reach a point where you stop being bitter about love and decide to embrace the adorable heart-shaped everything holiday that is Valentine's day. Of course I don't have a date and won't be spending the day or evening with the boy of my dreams (can you hear me Harry Styles?), but I do have a day full of plans I'm actually excited about. So to all my fellow single ladies: Get out of bed.  Put on your favorite pink dress and red lipstick. Buy yourself a bag of candy hearts and a bottle of pink champagne. Turn on or go see a horror movie (ok this might just be my idea of a perfect Valentine's but if you really think about it, it's quite fitting). Celebrate the fact that you don't have someone tying you down (seriously gals, take a closer look at half the people who are in relationships).

blogging is hard :(

jacket + shirt + shoes by Unif, glasses by Prada, leggings from Target

I obviously suck at blogging which is something I hope to get better at this year. I'm going to try to convince someone to help me make my blog pretty because I believe that would motivate me to post more. Until then I'll try to post at least once a week, most likely outfits or photos from recent shoots. I have really great intentions of posting my thoughts and inspirations but I can never finish anything. You should see the amount of drafts I have saved.

Just a little outfit post to tide you over. So glad it's finally cold in California, and by cold I mean below 70 degrees. San Francisco trip on Monday for my first big photo shoot in a long time.

halloweek

-Early meeting at work. (Pullover by Wildfox, beanie from Target)
-Carving pumpkins with my bean.
-Tate and Violet pumpkin.
-Obsessed with my Dimepiece pullover.
-Violet Harmon for Halloween. Halloween wasn't perfect but it wasn't horrible. Either way I miss it already. (Cardigan & shirt & leggings from Target, dress from Free People)
-It was 'wear your costume to work day' in Ashlee world but I made it more Ashlee appropriate.
-Casting call day at work. (Beanie from Target, crop top from American Apparel, skirt by Unif)
-Last minute photo shoot with Paul Beattie. The photos are for a submission so they probably won't be posted any time soon but I think they'll be worth the wait.
-Peppermint mochas are the best part about holiday time. The 'Gwen' skirt is one of the best purchases I've ever made. (Tank top & skirt by Unif)

I hope everyone's week was perfectly spooky.

Happy Halloween!

It's officially my favorite day of the year.
It's currently perfectly overcast outside and I'm drinking pumpkin coffee while flipping back and forth between all the perfect horror/Halloween movies on tv right now. There is almost nothing else in the world that makes me happier than Halloween. Although it's always hard for me to fully appreciate today because within a matter of hours today will be over and I'll have to wait another year.  I'm about to start my American Horror Story marathon to pre-game for tonight. I'm already wearing my Violet outfit (costume). The photos above are from Saturday night. If you don't know who I went as then get off my blog. I went bar hopping and it actually ended up being really fun. As of right now I have no idea what I'm doing tonight. I can only hope it lives up to last year. Whatever I end up doing, I look forward to no one understanding who I'm supposed to be. Pictures of my second costume will be posted soon!

~May all your dreams come true this Halloween~
xx

Halloweek-end

A review of my week (top + from right to left):

-Thrifting for costumes: Jacket, shirt, & shoes by UNIF + jeans from Urban Outfitters.
-Costume shopping part 2 in my: thrifted crushed velvet dress, beanie from Target, shoes by UNIF
-Rediscovered my Betsey Johnson sweater dress after it spent the last 3 years buried in my closet.
-Selfie at work: Dress by Evil Twin, shoes by UNIF.
-Halloween part 1. I'll be posting more photos from my Saturday night on Halloween. Had to save something for the day of. Cliche prom dress from Forever 21, tiara from Previews, blood harvested from every boy who tried to hit on me that night.

I can't believe the best month of the year is almost over. I've been cherishing every second. I'm going to spend the next 2 days carving pumpkins, watching horror movies, and putting the finishing touches on my second costume.

paranormal ramblings + Evan Peters' butt

beanie from Target, shirt by Unif, flannel + jeans from Urban Outfitters

Thursday night I went to see Paranormal Activity 4. I have gone to every movie's first showing (except for the first one because it didn't start playing in my city until after it's original release date no judging). It's probably my favorite horror movie franchise and I'm not even sorry about it. I have a thing for ghosts and demons and stuff ok? Also the fact they throw a really funny (jewish?) boy in every movie that I fall in love with. My only complaint is that the 4th movie just wasn't scary enough. I do like how they tied everything in though. If you're a fan of the series then I suggest you go see it but you're not really missing anything that hasn't already been done. Although I'm kind of glad I took the Kinect out of my room last week.

The Vandelles 'Miles Away' Official Music Video

As you may or may not know a couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of working with Claude Cardenas of Stagnant Cult on a video that was to be a part of his 'Daydream' series. Video work had been something I wanted to experiment with for a while so when I was given the opportunity of course I was thrilled. The video was finished and released a week later and I was so happy with the outcome. Anyways the video featured a song called 'Miles Away' by the band The Vandelles. Somehow the band came across the video and loved it so much they decided to make it the official video for 'Miles Away' and it was officially released yesterday! It's really crazy to me that this little video that was basically made for fun turned in to an official music video. You can check out The Vandelles here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Vandelles/111519378305?fref=ts. Make sure to hit like and send them all your love!

S&M Princess

dress & shoes by UNIF
leather jacket from Urban Outfitters (3 years ago, it's time for an upgrade)

"You just had to be a princess today..."

Today I ran necessary errands and ended up with some not so necessary items. Most importantly I got my hands on my first special effects make up items for my kit. I played around with them today and I'm really excited to perfect my ideas by Halloween.

September 10, 2012

I wish I'd been a prom queen fighting for the title.

So as you may or may not know, my 21st birthday is in 3 days. I guess it's one of those birthdays where you plan out how you'll celebrate it for your whole life. Well at least that's the case with me. When I was a teenager I always imagined having some extravagant 16th birthday party (thanks MTV) but of course that never happened. I didn't even have a birthday party. I don't think I even did anything to celebrate it unless you count getting my license. The point is I feel like this is the last birthday that's a 'big deal' and for once I want to make it memorable.
